London Housing Cooperative

Welcome to our website - We are a collective of 10 people living in London working to establish a housing cooperative in order to provide secure and affordable housing that is managed democratically and removed from the market for the long term.

About Us

We are committed to:

  • Establishing cooperative housing that is integrated into the community we live in, and stands in solidarity with its most marginalised members;
  • Demonstrating that cooperative housing is an important and viable alternative to marketised housing, which contributes to insecurity and homelessness;
  • Creating homes that are sustainable, regenerative and equitably run;
  • Exploring multiple options, and being flexible in which one we take forward;
  • Building our collective knowledge of housing coops, through research, group discussion and dialogue with existing coops;
  • Leveraging our extensive collective experience in governance, policy and democratic participation to make this project a success.

As part of this project we are exploring the possibility of acquiring additional space that can be used to the benefit of the local community, to meet non-housing needs. Depending on the nature of the property, this might include, for instance, a community meeting room to provide event space at no or very low cost, or a community garden.
